The Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit, consists of Washington DC Operations, Marketing & Communications and Strategic Development. The StratOps team promotes and elevates the business within our markets, works with customers and competition to influence and drive the growth of Ball Aerospace and facilitates collaboration across the business enterprise to increase opportunities.

Compensation & Benefits:
 
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $16.25 - $21.85 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon. At the conclusion of the internship, interns will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of their project work to their respective department.
 
Intern – Marketing & Communications
 
This position is located in Broomfield, CO and will be responsible for assisting and leading various marketing & communication activities. We are in search of a creative, versatile and enthusiastic individual to support employee events and communicate about our programs, technologies and people to a variety of internal and external audiences.
 
We are looking for a talented, driven, and eager individual who has a passion for or interest in the aerospace and defense industry and wants to learn and grow as a communications generalist. Please note that while this role is marketing & communications focused, it has a strong emphasis on written communications, therefore a writing sample may be required.
 
What You’ll Do:
 
  • Assist with the creation of marketing and branding materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to research, create, write, edit, and proofread copy and content for company publications, including any of the following:
  • Employee e-newsletter and email communications
  • Internal website
  • External website
  • Social media
  • Press releases
  • Technical writing and editing (business proposals)
  • Scripts and talking points
  • Award nomination packages
  • Support public affairs and community outreach activities such as the Ball Intern Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) payload project.
  • Assist with photo/video production and editing.
  • Assist with event planning, support, and execution of virtual and in-person engagements.
  • Support customer engagement activities and projects.
  • Provide additional internal and external communications support, as needed.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
 
What You’ll Need: 
 
  • Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2023. We will also accept students enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Pursuing a degree in Communications Marketing, Public Relations, Journalist, Video, Production, or a related field.
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and action-oriented/result-driven with excellent ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Preferred undergraduate or graduate work in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Technical Communication, Multimedia, Communications, Video, Production, or related field.
  • Strong writing skills; solid understanding of AP Style.
  • Event planning/production.
  • A creative eye for design and branding.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud experience.
  • Photo/Video and production experience.
  • Ability and interest to translate and synthesize technical information into relatable marketing messages and internal articles.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) experience.

Hybrid Work Environment: This position may be performed working from both the office and another location, while typically requiring working in the office less than 3 days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
